Heartbreak

Heartbroken. That's what Bry and I have been feeling this past week. Where do I begin? My parents came to visit us for spring break while Bryan was in Peru for two weeks. We had a GREAT time with them. We were able to go to Nauvoo for a few days. It was such a great experience for me and the kids. It helped me remember all of the many blessings that we have and enjoy. The Sunday before my parents left I needed a sub for Kamryn's primary class and my mom said that she and my dad could sub. After we got home from church my dad asked me if I had seen Kamryn jerking her head back and her eyes rolling back in her head before. I hadn't. We watched her to see if it would happen again. It did. When I saw it I knew something was really wrong. I prayed that it was nothing serious but that "mom" feeling would not go away. I felt strongly that we needed to take her in to the doctors. They sent us straight to the hospital where she had an EEG test. Of course the jerking of her head and eyes rolling back stopped as soon as we went to the hospital. Thank goodness the neurologist felt that more testing needed to be done so they hooked her up to a mobile EEG for the next 48 hours. We didn't see anything more so we began to hope that it really was nothing. Then Thursday morning the Doctor called and said.. " I am so sorry I have very bad news..." She is having seizures. She did not want to tell me what kind over the phone, we go in tomorrow to find out all of the details and what we are dealing with. Unfortunately she started Friday with the eyes rolling back so we had to start the medication that night so we could start on the path to getting them controlled. Every time we see one (which is often) my stomach drops. The blessing is that Kamryn does not know she is having them. Also, it was great that my parents were here and extended their stay so they could stay with the boys while we were at the hospital. It is amazing to me how quickly life can change. We now face a whole new set of worries and concerns. How will is effect Kamryn? Will she and can she lead a "normal" life? She is an amazing girl. When Bryan and I sat here down to tell her what the doctor had said all she said was " Well, I guess Heavenly Father knew I could handle this so I guess I will be OK." WOW! Bryan and I hope to have the kind of faith that she has.
